UCSF Campus BU is seeking a Research Data Analyst 3 to support data management and analysis for NIH-funded multicountry TB diagnostic research. The role contributes to analysis-ready datasets, publications, and cross-site coordination, based in California onsite.

You will design REDCap databases, create data dictionaries, oversee data quality, train staff, and collaborate with investigators, biostatisticians, and international teams while complying with data privacy and security requirements.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, public health, or related area.
• 3 years of directly relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Human Subjects research training, or ability to obtain it in the first year of employment.
• Thorough knowledge of research function and study design.
• Thorough skills in statistical analysis and data systems programming.

The Research Data Analyst 3 role supports data management and analysis for domestic and international research initiatives at UCSF Campus BU. You will work within projects that include NIH-funded multicountry TB diagnostic research, contributing to analysis-ready datasets and publications. The position is based in California (onsite) and supports both day‑to‑day data operations and cross‑site coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Design data collection instruments and REDCap databases
• Create data dictionaries and standard operating procedures
• Oversee data collection, validation, cleaning, integration, and documentation
• Train and support project staff
• Monitor data quality and data timeliness
• Resolve data discrepancies with collaborating research sites
• Conduct statistical analyses using established methods in collaboration with investigators and biostatisticians
• Interpret study findings
• Prepare tables, figures, and reports
• Contribute to abstracts, manuscripts, and scientific presentations
• Manage competing priorities across multiple projects
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary collaborators while ensuring compliance with applicable research protocols and data privacy and security requirements
• Support multicountry data systems for the primary project: Rapid Research in Diagnostics Development for TB Network (R2D2 TB Network)
• Collaborate with international research teams, including monitoring data quality and preparing analysis‑ready datasets
• Depending on experience and project needs, contribute to human factors research, Bayesian analyses, and health economic studies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related area
• 3 years of directly relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Thorough skills in statistical analysis and systems programming
• Thorough skills in analysis and consultation
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely in writing and verbally
• Knowledge of multiple statistical programs including STATA or R and MS Excel, plus experience with REDCap to ensure study data accuracy, build analysis datasets, conduct analysis, and prepare data for publication and presentation

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working on international collaborations, including international field experience
• Experience in global health research, including in sub‑Saharan Africa or Asia
• Proficiency designing and analyzing choice experiments using Sawtooth and/or other statistical programs including STATA or R
• Skills in project management
• Knowledge of medical terminology with a focus on tuberculosis
• Research skills to evaluate alternate solutions and provide recommendations

Compensation: USD 110,000 per year.
