Job summary

Place Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Analyst to transform construction project and financial data into actionable insights.

You will work with Acumatica, Procore, and Velixo to deliver reliable reports and dashboards for project performance tracking and decision-making. You will collaborate with Finance, Project Management, and Operations to ensure data integrity, automate reporting, and support month-end processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, information systems, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a data/Reporting role; construction industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying relational databases.
  • Experience with Acumatica ERP; familiarity with construction accounting modules is a plus.
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction project management platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity with Velixo, Jet Reports, or similar Excel-based live reporting tools connected to ERP systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau for dashboard development.
  • Advanced Excel skills: pivots, Power Query, and complex formulas.
  • Understanding of construction accounting concepts (job costing, WIP, AIA billing, cost codes) is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with Python or R for data analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain recurring and ad hoc reports and dashboards focused on job cost performance, WIP status, project profitability, subcontract tracking, and KPIs.
  • Extract, cleanse, and transform data from ERP and project systems to support integrated reporting.
  • Build and maintain Velixo or equivalent live-reporting tools connected to ERP data.
  • Analyze project cost trends, variances, and cost-to-complete projections to surface risks and opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of WIP schedules and month-end reporting with accounting.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and field operations to translate data needs into reporting solutions.
  • Monitor data quality across source systems and coordinate issue resolution.
  • Document report logic, data definitions, and business rules for a reporting knowledge base.
  • Assist with system integration testing and UAT for upgrades or new platforms.
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests from Finance, Operations, and leadership with accuracy and timeliness.

Job description

The Data Analyst supports the Data & Information Systems team by transforming construction project and financial data into meaningful, actionable insights. Working within a construction company environment, this role requires familiarity with job cost reporting, project financials, and the systems that drive them - including Acumatica, Procore, and Velixo or similar reporting platforms. The Data Analyst partners closely with Finance, Project

Management, and Operations to deliver reliable reports and dashboards that support project performance trackingand business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain recurring and ad hoc reports and dashboards focused on job cost performance, WIP status, project profitability, subcontract tracking, and company-wide financial KPIs.
  • Extract, cleanse, and transform data from Acumatica (ERP), Procore (project management), and other operational systems to support integrated reporting.
  • Build and maintain Velixo reports (or equivalent Excel/cloud-based reporting tools) that pull live data from Acumatica for Finance and Accounting use.
  • Analyze project cost trends, variances between estimated and actual costs, and cost-to-complete projections to surface risks and opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of WIP schedules and month-end reporting packages in coordination with the accounting team.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and field operations to understand data needs and translate them into reporting solutions.
  • Monitor data quality across source systems; identify discrepancies and work with system administrators to resolve issues.
  • Document report logic, data definitions, and business rules to build a reliable reporting knowledge base.
  • Assist with system integration testing and UAT for upgrades or new platform rollouts.
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests from Finance, Operations, and executive leadership with accuracy and timeliness.
