Qualifications

The Data Analyst at IAPP supports day-to-day data operations while helping shape and execute the organization’s broader data strategy. This hybrid role in Portsmouth, NH combines reporting and dashboard development with data quality monitoring, documentation, and operational support.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the team to understand and support critical metrics used for ongoing operational management.
• Create reports, visualizations, and dashboards using Power BI and other tools to provide departments with day-to-day metrics.
• Provide ongoing support and improvements to maintain departmental reporting capabilities.
• Understand IAPP’s reporting environment and apply knowledge of business and operational processes to guide analysis and build auxiliary data flows.
• Contribute to development and execution of IAPP’s data strategy, including how data is collected, stored, governed, and used for business decisions.
• Use AI tools and techniques to automate repetitive tasks, accelerate analysis, and surface insights more efficiently.
• Address complex data problems by identifying root causes, evaluating trade-offs, and recommending practical solutions across multiple systems and data sources.
• Support initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
• Load, clean, and manipulate data from multiple sources, including internal, external, and third parties, using AWS-based data infrastructure and tools where applicable.
• Document dataset transformations into efficient structures for reporting, and ensure data remains current in source systems and data stores.
• Support business operations to ensure data flows correctly through the database, perform key action items for process flow, and assist with database support and troubleshooting, primarily using SQL.
• Monitor production data for irregularities in data patterns, investigate data inaccuracies and inconsistencies, triage next steps, and create solution plans.
• Build strong relationships across the organization, support self-service where possible, and assist learning initiatives that encourage adoption of data solutions.
• Work with technology and business operations teams to keep operations running smoothly and adapt to evolving business needs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
• 1+ year(s) of experience using SQL, with the ability to read, write, and modify complex SQL queries without supervision.
• Experience with Power BI (or similar BI tools) to build reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
• Intermediate experience with Excel, including VLOOKUP, cross-cell/sheet referencing, and creating formulas without supervision.
• Experience analyzing and investigating data, including data inaccuracies and/or inconsistencies, and solving complex, multi-source data problems.
• Demonstrated curiosity and ability to listen to internal customer needs and translate them into actionable analytics.
• Ability to communicate results through visual presentation of data.
• Experience using modern data tools and techniques to inspect and transform data at scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud data platforms (e.g., data warehousing, storage, or pipeline tools).
• Experience utilizing AI tools (e.g., Copilot) to support data analysis, automation, or reporting workflows.
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Marketo, and/or NetSuite.
• Exposure to data strategy, including data governance, quality frameworks, or long-term data architecture planning.
