This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving cross‑functional business problems, improving process discipline, and using data to drive better transportation, claims, customer, and operational decisions. In this role, you will help translate operational needs into practical reporting, insights, and process improvements across freight movement, claims documentation, carrier performance, cost‑to‑serve visibility, and customer‑facing execution. You will partner with Logistics, Sales, Manufacturing, Distribution, Finance, Claims, Customer Experience, and IT to improve decision quality and standardize how information is captured, analyzed, and acted upon.

Core Focus Areas

  • Claims & Documentation — Claims recovery support through better visibility to required documentation, including origin/destination photos, shipment records, and follow‑up workflows.
  • Process Improvement — Standardized reporting, cleaner handoffs, improved data capture, clearer root‑cause analysis, and scalable tools for site and corporate teams.
  • Business Partnership — Actionable insights for Logistics, Sales, Manufacturing, Distribution, Finance, Claims, Customer Experience, and IT stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

  • Support claims processing and documentation discipline by improving visibility to required claim evidence, including shipment records, photos, seals, damage documentation, and follow‑up actions.
  • Translate business questions into practical reporting solutions using Power BI, Excel, SQL, ERP data, and other available tools.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Logistics, Sales, Manufacturing, Distribution, Finance, Claims, Customer Experience, and IT to clarify requirements, align metrics, and drive adoption.
  • Build maintainable analytics products that turn complex data into clear insights, recommendations, and operational routines.
  • Identify and lead process improvement opportunities that reduce manual work, strengthen controls, improve claim recovery support, and enhance customer/customer‑facing execution.
  • Educate business users on reporting content, definitions, data limitations, and recommended actions.
  • Use emerging technology thoughtfully including automation, AI‑enabled productivity, and workflow tools where they improve speed, accuracy, or standardization.
Preferred Attributes / Experience
  • Experience with transportation, rail/truck operations, freight claims, customer delivery, reload/DC operations, or SAP/ERP shipment processes.
  • Familiarity with claims documentation requirements, product damage/theft workflows, photo evidence retention, or root‑cause tracking.
  • Ability to understand cost drivers, tradeoffs, service impacts, and operational performance metrics.
  • Experience working with large, multi‑source datasets and simplifying complex analysis into action‑oriented recommendations.
  • Curiosity and comfort with technology, automation, AI basics, and continuous improvement opportunities with Forest Products industry, SAP, CRM, Service Cloud, or customer‑facing operational tools is a plus.
  • Expert SQL, including complex transformations, window functions, performance tuning, and query optimization on large datasets.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with a modern transformation framework (dbt strongly preferred) and version‑controlled analytics workflows (Git, code reviews, CI/CD).
Core Skills for Success
  • Business Acumen — Understands cost drivers, tradeoffs, operational constraints, claims impact, and performance metrics.
  • Data & Analytics — Uses Excel, Power BI, ERP data, and advanced analytics to interpret performance and support decisions.
  • Communication & Influence — Collaborates across teams and turns analysis into clear, data‑backed recommendations.
  • Adaptability — Works through ambiguity, embraces change, and helps teams adopt better processes.
