The Texas Health and Specialty Care System (HSCS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Analyst to join the Office of Forensic Services and Coordination (OFSC). In this essential role, the Data Analyst will support and enhance data reporting, analytics, and operational processes across the forensic service continuum. The position is responsible for maintaining and improving existing reporting products, identifying opportunities to automate workflows, optimizing data extraction and reporting processes, and supporting data-informed decision-making through analysis and visualization of complex datasets.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in data analytics, reporting, and statistical analysis, with experience working with large datasets and developing solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of information. This position will work closely with program staff, leadership, and data partners to support ongoing reporting needs, improve data quality, and identify innovative approaches to strengthen business processes and reporting capabilities. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, effective collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in emerging data tools and technologies.
The Data Analyst works under the direction of OFSC’s data analyst on the policy, planning, research and coordination team within the OFSC with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement to ensure the statutorily mandated duties of the Forensic Director (SB 1507, 84th Legislature, Regular Session, 2015) are met. These duties include statewide coordination and oversight of forensic services; coordination of forensic programs operated by HHSC; and addressing issues with the delivery of forensic services in Texas including significant increases in populations with serious mental illness and criminal justice system involvement. The Data Analyst will be expected to be a motivated self-starter. The salary will be offered in accordance with the salary range posted for this position. Salary requests outside of the range in the posting will not be considered and is non-negotiable. For internal applicants, salary negotiations must align with the HHS Human Resources Manual and align with the salary range for this posting. For internal applicants, salary requests beyond the salary range in this posting or that require higher level approvals will not be considered.

SALARY NOTE: The posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum allowable by state law. Any employment offer is contingent upon available budgeted funds. The offered salary will be determined in accordance with budgetary limits and the requirements of HHSC Human Resources Manual Chapter 7.
