TRG Tech Research Group seeks a Data & AI Technical Lead to own technical design and architecture across data and AI systems. This is a hands‑on role where you design and build, collaborating with the Principal Data Engineer to shape the Data & AI domain.

You’ll drive initiatives from design through production and mentor the team on system design and AI integration. You’ll co‑own data pipelines, AI flows, and service integration, while maintaining high standards for observability, reliability,

Qualifications

Strong Python engineering background producing production‑grade code for data pipelines, backend services, and AI integrations.
Data architecture experience designing scalable systems, schemas, storage, and pipelines for analytical and AI workloads.
AI systems design knowledge of LLMs, agents, retrieval systems, and data‑driven workflows.
Backend and API development experience with service contracts and cross‑system integration.
Hands‑on experience with event‑driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar).
Familiarity with Docker and container environments; ability to reason about runtimes and deployments.
Technical leadership through credible communication and cross‑team alignment; influence without authority.
Ability to use AI tools deliberately to augment development while maintaining technical quality.
Ownership mindset to own problems end‑to‑end and drive outcomes.
Adaptability to fast‑moving environments with evolving requirements.
Delivery ownership from discovery to production, including rollout and post‑release support.
Strong cross‑functional collaboration with PMs, QA, and engineers across domains.

Responsibilities

Co‑own technical architecture and system design with the Principal Data Engineer across data pipelines, AI flows, agents, and service integration.
Lead data and AI flows across heterogeneous systems, defining ingestion, transformation, storage, retrieval, and consumption by agents and services.
Make and document architectural decisions independently with clear reasoning and trade‑offs.
Design and build MCP tools, RAG pipelines, and agent‑facing APIs connecting AI systems to the data layer.
Develop backend services with FastAPI as part of an event‑driven architecture – hands‑on.
Uphold engineering standards: code quality, design patterns, reviews, and documentation.
Mentor engineers in system design, data modelling, and AI integration patterns.
Use AI‑assisted coding deliberately and shape team usage.
Own the evolution of the Data & AI domain architecture for scalability and reliability.
Lead end‑to‑end technical execution from discovery to production and post‑release accountability.
Act as technical point of contact, coordinating with Product Managers, engineers, QA and adjacent teams.
Collaborate with other Technical Leads and Principal Engineers on interfaces and integration patterns.
Drive production observability, testing strategies, and operational readiness.
Participate in technical hiring and guide the team’s direction.
