Job summary

Unum is seeking a strategic and technically savvy Manager, Data & AI Platforms to lead governance, adoption, optimization, and operational stewardship of our enterprise Data & AI ecosystem. You will partner across Data Engineering, Analytics, AI, Architecture, Security, and Governance teams to establish platform standards and enable innovation.

The role will drive platform governance, cost accountability, and scalable processes, with a focus on turning platform capabilities into measurable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, mathematics, or statistics preferred.
• 5+ years hands‑on experience acting as a Data Engineer, BI Analyst or Data Scientist.
• Prior leadership and/or management experience preferred.
• Experience with analytics programming languages (SQL/R/Python).
• Experience with modern BI toolsets (Snowflake, Databricks, Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI, or equivalent).
• In‑depth understanding of data profiling, statistical analysis and data modeling concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day management of enterprise Data & AI platforms.
• Establish and enforce platform governance standards, policies, and operating procedures.
• Measure platform utilization, adoption, and value realization across business and technology teams.
• Oversee the execution of a team's analytics strategy.
• Guide their team on the usage of tools and ensure goals and deadlines are met.
• Oversee best practices to drive consistency and standardization of Data & AI platform usage.
• Recruit, train, and develop staff within their team.
• Mentor and train team members on statistical methods and data assets.
