Job summary

BNY is seeking a Senior Specialist for Data & AI Governance in New York City. You will lead data risk management, oversee data quality controls, and act as the 1LOD for data issues impacting critical data sources and applications.

You will collaborate with Data Leaders, provide AI-enabled governance tools, and coordinate with 2LOD and Internal Audit to document evidence and drive remediation. The role emphasizes analytical rigor and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
• 3-5 years of total work experience preferred. Experience in Financial Services is preferred.
• Experience with control and issues management in a regulatory environment (Financial Services is preferred)
• Strong analytical skills to review Data Quality Controls and Issue remediation plans and results
• Familiarity with Data Lineage and Issue Management tools
• Skills in using and building AI tools to automate and enhance regulatory and controls processes
• Strong Interpersonal skills to work with business and engineering professionals to resolve design disputes, issue ownership and remediation disputes
• Good business writing skills to assess and improve the quality of Issue documentation

Responsibilities

• Be a leader managing Data Risk by supporting the Data Quality (DQ) Controls and Issue Management process for the bank
• Work with the Data Leaders and Data Divisional Officers across the Enterprise to build and monitor Data Quality Controls
• Be the first line of defense (1LOD) for Data Quality issues impacting our applications and critical sources of data
• Build and support AI tools and supported processes to enhance Data Quality and Governance initiatives
• Work with second line of defense (2LOD) and Internal Audit to review required evidence to close these issues and actively support issue owners and responsible groups to get required information properly documented in our enterprise issue tracking system
• Review tactical and strategic remediation efforts of Data Quality issues to manage data risk for the bank
• Track open DQ issues and metrics of assigned Platforms to manage SLA compliance
