Smarty, LLC. in Utah is seeking a Data Acquisition & Quality Specialist Intern to help unlock the meaning behind location data for our products.

You will join the Data Foundations team and work on sourcing, validating, and enriching data while building scalable pipelines and collaborating with product and engineering teams. The internship runs January 2027 through late Summer 2027, with a minimum 15+ hours/week during Winter/Spring Terms and potential extra hours in Summer.

Qualifications

• Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related analytical field.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience working with data
• Excellent organizational skills
• Experience with SQL, and turning large datasets into clean, structured formats
• Problem solving attitude and willingness to take on new challenges

Responsibilities

• Research, identify, evaluate, and onboard data sources to meet organizational objectives
• Profile, validate, and QA data for quality, completeness, and consistency and enrich it for product
• Evaluate, onboard, and maintain data vendors and track license terms
• Build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines to process and structure location and enrichment data
• Collaborate with product managers to define data requirements for new features and work with engineering teams to deliver data
• Participate in company cultural training initiatives and apply learned principles in work and interactions
