Job Summary and Qualifications

As a work-from-home Data Abstractor supporting Cardiovascular Surgery, you will abstract data for complex cardiovascular services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Completing abstraction for assigned facilities, including data entry into systems like COMET, TheraDoc, Digital Innovations, NHSN, etc.
• Reviewing medical records to abstract information per standards of agencies such as CMS, TJC, NHSN.
• Performing timely abstraction to ensure compliance.
• Conducting edit checks and making necessary corrections.
• Following standards and instructions to abstract reportable cases.
• Assisting with case follow-up and attending educational activities.
• Maintaining knowledge of abstracted measures and communicating with managers to ensure compliance.
• Submitting data timely and resolving record rejections.

Qualifications include:

• Strong surgical background preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in Health Information Management, Coding, Nursing, or Health Registry abstraction.
• Certified coding or nursing program completion preferred.
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS certifications preferred.
• LVN or RN preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare required; extensive experience may substitute.
