Job Summary and Qualifications

As a work-from-home Cardiovascular Data Abstractor PRN, you will be responsible for abstracting data for complex cardiovascular services.

What you will do in this role:

• Complete abstraction for assigned facilities, including entering data into systems like COMET, TheraDoc, Digital Innovations, NHSN, etc.
• Review medical records to abstract information per standards of agencies like CMS, TJC, NHSN.
• Perform timely abstraction to ensure compliance with standards.
• Complete edit checks and make necessary corrections promptly.
• Follow standards and instructions to abstract all reportable cases.
• Assist with case follow-up as requested.
• Attend educational activities as approved by management.
• Maintain knowledge of various abstracted measures.
• Communicate timely with managers to achieve measure compliance.
• Submit data accurately through the appropriate reporting systems.
• Resolve errors that lead to record rejection from data systems.

What qualifications you will need:

• At least 2 years of experience in Health Information Management, Coding, Nursing, or Health Registry abstraction.
• Completion of a certified coding or nursing program is strongly preferred.
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS certification is strongly preferred.
• LVN or RN preferred.
• Undergraduate degree in a healthcare-related field required; extensive experience (5+ years) may substitute formal education.
