Job summary

Oregon State University is hiring a part-time Disability Services AA (up to 24 hours per week) to support high level technical skills and sound analysis for marine science under the direction of the DAS student.

The role includes assisting with lab materials, helping the student navigate the classroom and lab environments, and supporting course and lab processes as needed. Applicants should be enrolled in a postsecondary program and may be required to commute to Newport on Thursdays.

Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard.
  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours and still be considered full-time under USCIS rules.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with sound analysis for marine science and help with lab materials and class assignments.
  • Assist the student with navigating the classroom and lab environments.
  • Ensure the student understands course and lab processes as appropriate and provide navigation support in lab settings.
  • Assist a blind student in navigating the classroom and lab spaces.

Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill 1 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) AA position for Disability Services at Oregon State University (OSU).

Position Duties

  • Assistance with High level technical skills and expertise with SOUND ANALYSIS for MARINE SCIENCE AAs, under the direction of the DAS student, may assist with the manipulation of lab materials and with the completion of in-class assignments.
  • AAs may also assist the student with navigating the classroom/lab environment.
  • All information about the actual course and lab processes and procedures are the students' responsibility.
  • Tasks performed are to assist a blind student in navigating.

Preferred

  • Prior experience working with individuals who are low vision/Blind or individuals with limited fine motor skills.
  • The ability to assist with Research for FW 603.036
