Job summary

IES Communications is seeking a Technician I - DAS to perform field service tasks including installing antennas, repeaters, head-end equipment and DAS devices. You will learn to complete sweep, PIM and fiber testing and will work at customer sites under NEC standards.

Responsibilities include commissioning and optimizing DAS and signal boosters for public safety, performing RF readings, and documenting all job activities while coordinating with customers about safety and local code requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• 0-1 year experience in the processes and requirements of integrating public safety and cell carrier and technologies into an in-building coverage system
• Possess or obtain certifications from above manufacturers and have the willingness to learn new systems
• Experience with PIM testing preferred
• Experience with common DAS Equipment including Fiber DAS, Repeaters, Coaxial Cable, CAT 5 Cable, Antennas, Splitters, Fiber Cable, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a professional manner at all job sites
• Ability to think analytically and to solve complex problems
• Strong customer service, communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well on a team

Responsibilities

• Install DAS wireless equipment using external and internal antennas, coaxial fiber and CAT5 cable per NEC at customer sites.
• Commission and optimize DAS and signal booster equipment for public safety installations using manufacturer procedures and field equipment.
• Conduct pre- and post-install RF signal readings per fire code requirements using spectrum analyzers or radios.
• Perform cable sweep testing (VSWR, RL, DTF, PIM) with test equipment.
• Troubleshoot existing systems to identify failures or configuration issues and correct as possible.
• Terminate wall and ceiling mounted components.
• Complete sweep, PIM and fiber testing.
• Complete job-related documentation and record keeping.
• Communicate and coordinate with customers and company regarding safety, local code and installation requirements.
