Job summary

Ole & Steen, a Danish bakery, in New York City, is seeking an experienced Pastry Cook to join our baking team. You will prepare cakes, pastries, and other sweet goods according to traditional Danish recipes, in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate has culinary training, 1–2 years pastry experience, and the ability to stand for long periods, lift 50 lbs, and maintain high standards of health and safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is a plus.
• Culinary school program or apprenticeship preferred.
• 1-2 years of pastry-making relevant experience.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Able to lift 50lbs.
• Basic math skills.
• Great attention to detail.
• Excellent time management.
• Able to work a flexible schedule, especially during holidays.
• Maintain a clean environment and keep area organized.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cakes, pastries, and other sweet goods per Danish recipes.
• Observe and maintain product quality and adjust oven temps/times.
• Combine ingredients using mixing/baking machinery.
• Decorate pastries and cakes with consistent presentation.
• Check quality of raw materials to meet standards.
• Follow plating and display standards.
• Monitor inventory and properly label/store ingredients.
• Ensure health and safety regulations are met.
• Maintain a clean, orderly workstation.
