Job summary

Togetherhood in Washington DC is building a network of educators pairing dance instructors with K-12 schools and community programs for after-school enrichment.

As a contracted dance instructor (Ballet, Hip Hop, Zumba, or general dance), you will develop age-appropriate curricula, lead weekly in-person classes, create engaging, inclusive learning spaces, and provide constructive feedback to students. This is paid per class as a flexible, supplemental 1099 role.

Qualifications

What You’ll Do

As a member of our network, you will be matched with opportunities to teach Dance (Ballet, Hip Hop, Zumba, General Dance) to K-12 students at schools, buildings, and communities across Washington DC. These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks.

• Develop age-appropriate Dance curriculum for after-school students
• Lead weekly in-person classes with enthusiasm and expertise
• Establish a well-structured and lively classroom that keeps students engaged
• Foster a positive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment for students of varying skill levels
• Build connections with students in a warm and inclusive environment
• Track student growth and offer positive, helpful feedback
• Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to teach
• Create a memorable experience for the children in your class

Who You Are

• Has subject matter expertise in Dance (Ballet, Hip Hop, Zumba, etc)
• Has a passion and skill for building hands‑on projects with kids

• Brings your own voice and creativity to each class you teach

What To Expect

• If your resume is a fit, we’ll reach out to set up a screening call on Google Meet
• Candidates advancing from screenings will have a second video interview, in which we will ask you to share a sample lesson plan
• The final step of the process is onboarding into our platform, ready to accept classes!

Teachers in the Togetherhood network are paid per class, either flat rate or per-student (determined by the partner school). This is contracted, supplemental 1099 work. There is a separate materials budget for teachers to use for classes requiring one.
