Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned dance curricula suitable for diverse student groups across various grade levels.
- Teach foundational dance techniques in multiple styles (e.g., ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, cultural dance forms).
- Create an inclusive, welcoming classroom environment that encourages students to express themselves creatively through dance.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and communicate achievements to families.
- Plan and direct student dance performances, recitals, and showcase events throughout the year.
- Collaborate with colleagues, school leadership, and families to support student growth and enrich the school community.
- Maintain classroom management according to district guidelines and policies.
Qualifications:
- Valid California Single Subject Credential in Physical Education or Dance, or eligibility to obtain one (California offers reciprocity for out-of-state educators).
- English Learner (EL) Authorization or eligibility to acquire it from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
- Previous experience teaching dance to diverse student populations is preferred.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Commitment to inclusive practices and encouraging artistic expression for all students.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to actively demonstrate dance techniques and engage students physically.
- Effective visual and auditory capabilities necessary for instructing and assessing dance skills.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Dance Education, or a related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
Salary & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $56,155 – $117,259 annually, depending on experience and education.
