Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties in Gig Harbor, WA seeks a Dance Instructor to lead classes for all ages, develop progressive lesson plans, and choreograph performances aligned with YMCA values. Teach in-person and virtual sessions, track student progress, and support recitals with volunteers at the Tom Taylor Family YMCA.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of dance training or equivalent and 1–2 years of teaching experience, with the ability to teach beginner to intermediate levels while

Qualifications

• 5+ years of formal dance training or comparable experience.
• 1–2 years of experience as a dance teacher or teaching assistant.
• Experience teaching beginner through intermediate levels.
• Positive attitude and experience with diverse populations.
• Ability to choreograph pieces for recitals.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred.
• Pass background checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Follow/implement YMCA quality standards and wellbeing dimensions in youth programming.
• Create progressive class lesson plans reflecting the YMCA curricula and core values.
• Choreograph dances for end-of-year performances.
• Lead in-person and virtual dance classes (Facebook Live, Zoom, etc.).
• Communicate student progress to the Arts Director.
• Attend trainings and meetings.
• Lead dance technique classes and assist with recital production.
