Summary

Dance teachers are responsible for instructing students in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and other forms of dance as determined by the supervisor. They plan dance programs to meet students' needs, explain and demonstrate techniques, lead students in executing dance steps, choreograph and direct performances, and participate in the annual dance recital.

Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Training

• Experience in dance performance
• Ability to work independently and creatively
• Pleasant and friendly personality
• CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification required; if not certified, must become certified

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for daily studio setup and cleanup
• Develop lesson plans and organize class time effectively
• Evaluate student performance and technique
• Maintain records such as attendance, emergency forms, and costume orders
• Create a conducive learning environment
• Maintain professional dance techniques
• Prepare students for performances and select music and costumes
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress
• Collaborate with dance staff to achieve program goals
• Demonstrate good communication skills
• Assist as a substitute teacher if needed
• Greet parents and students
• Complete accident reports as necessary
• Maintain knowledge of park policies and confidentiality
• Perform other related duties as assigned
