Hiring Wage Range: $15.00 - $18.75/DOQ

Full Wage Range: $15.00 - $22.50

Summary: The Dance Assistant teacher is responsible for instructing students in dance as determined by the lead teacher. The assistant may demonstrate techniques, lead students in dance steps, choreograph, and direct dance performances according to the style of dancing taught.

Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Training: Must be at least 16 years old, experienced in dance performance, able to work with young children, follow instructions, and possess a pleasant personality. CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required; if not certified, must obtain certification.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Evaluate students' performance and technique.
2. Maintain a conducive classroom atmosphere for learning.
3. Maintain competence in dance techniques.
4. Prepare students for the annual dance recital.
5. Communicate with the lead instructor regarding student progress.
6. Work as a team with dance staff to achieve program goals.
7. Demonstrate good communication skills.
8. Greet parents and students.
9. Display a cooperative, positive attitude.
10. Ensure no instructor assistant is alone with a child in a closed room, and children are not released without written parental permission.
11. Manage aspects of the spring dance recital, including costumes, music, choreography, stage lighting, and student direction.
12. Maintain knowledge of park policies and confidentiality of records.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
