Job summary

Good Shepherd Services is seeking a Dance & Cheerleading Instructor for PS 297 in New York. The role is 8–10 hours per week, non-exempt, from September to August, and involves teaching youth in dance and cheerleading. Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience and/or training relevant to the position required.
• Candidates with some college, experience with adolescents and teaching/coaching youth encouraged.
• Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm for young people.
• Excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
• Ability to engage youth, while setting structure and limits in a group setting.
• Energetic, motivated self-starter and a team player.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to a strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop age- and skill-appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, activities, and projects.
• Develop students' artistic, educational, and leadership potential.
• Manage uniforms and participant gear.
• Facilitate scaffolded activities to promote teamwork and growth.
• Engage participants in group conversations and track academic progress.
• Attend staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
