Good Shepherd Services in Brooklyn invites applications for the Activity Instructor Dance All Styles - PS224. The Activity Specialist teaches a youth-centered class tailored to their expertise, with emphasis on dance all styles.

Location is 757 Wortman Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11208. Schedule Monday–Friday, 2 pm – 6 pm; up to 8 hours per week; non-exempt, September through June. The role supports youth development through arts and education.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience and/or training relevant to the position required.
• Some college, experience with adolescents and teaching/coaching youth are encouraged.
• Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm for young people; excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
• Ability to engage youth, while setting structure and limits in a group setting.
• Energetic, motivated self-starter and a team player.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop age- and skill-appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, activities, and special projects.
• Pre-plan activities to provide structure and purposeful use, with beginning and ending rituals.
• Work with program participants to develop artistic, educational, and leadership potential.
• Facilitate scaffolded activities promoting teamwork and growth.
• Foster a strength-based, safe youth environment with belonging and safety.
• Engage in group conversations, track and support students’ academic progress.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in other duties as assigned.
