Job summary

Atmos Energy is seeking a Damage Prevention professional in the Bristol, VA area to coordinate excavations, inspect sites, and prevent gas incidents. You will work with company crews and contractors to ensure safe, compliant operations and thorough documentation.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with five years in related field experience, plus the ability to obtain required OQs and a valid driver’s license. Strong communication and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with five years in natural gas construction, damage prevention or related field.
• Must obtain and maintain Operator Qualifications (OQs) and required training within six months.
• Strong interpersonal skills for internal and external customers.
• Must have a valid driver’s license per company standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversees pipeline crossings by third-parties.
• Coordinates excavations with Company crews and contractors for damage prevention.
• Conducts investigations of natural gas facility damages and follows through to resolution.
• Reviews and reconciles invoices related to the work.
• Acts as primary contact with area excavators, municipalities, and Company personnel.
• Ensures maps and records used for damage prevention are accurate.
• Maintains records and reports to meet regulatory requirements.
• May perform stand-by duty, shifts, holidays, and occasional long hours.
• May travel outside the regular work area as required.
• Identifies and reports safety and encroachment issues to resolution.
• Responsible for safe operation and inspection of Company vehicles and equipment.
• Adheres to Atmos Energy values and safety culture in all duties.
• Completes required safety training and follows safety manual contents.
