Job summary

Schnabel Engineering in Portland, OR is seeking an Entry-Level Staff Engineer to join our growing geotechnical practice. You will develop both field and analytical skills, support team projects, and contribute to design and construction document preparation under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a civil engineering degree, 0-2 years of experience, and a drive to learn. The role offers hands-on field work, CAD drafting, and opportunities to grow within an employee-owned firm that values

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
0-2 years of relevant professional experience
Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Positive attitude
Ability to multi-task
Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement
Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments that may last several months away from the office

Responsibilities

Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.
Assist in the preparation of CAD drawings for contract documents and reports with input and guidance from senior engineers in accordance within internal drafting procedures and guidelines.
Prepare complete plans and specifications to be part of construction documents.
Develop engineering recommendations and write technical reports.
Perform design calculations for hydraulic structures including spillways, dam outlet works, diversion and check structures, measurement flumes, and other various raw water infrastructure.
Perform inspections of dams and hydraulic structures.
Collect data and measurements in the field
