Job summary

Schnabel's Seattle, WA office seeks an Entry-Level (Staff) Engineer to join our growing practice, developing both field and analytical skills while collaborating with a strong team.

You will apply professional principles, prepare plans and specifications, perform design calculations for hydraulic structures, and gain exposure to dam and water infrastructure projects. Travel and field work are part of the role.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to multi-task.
• Strong work ethic and desire for continual self-improvement.
• Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments lasting several months away from the office.

Responsibilities

• Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.
• Assist in the preparation of CAD drawings for contract documents and reports with input and guidance from senior engineers in accordance with internal drafting procedures and guidelines.
• Prepare complete plans and specifications to be part of construction documents.
• Develop engineering recommendations and write technical reports.
• Perform design calculations for hydraulic structures including spillways, dam outlet works, diversion and check structures, measurement flumes, and other various raw water infrastructure.
• Perform inspections of dams and hydraulic structures.
• Collect data and measurements in the field.
