Summary

Elberta Valley Ag is dairy and crop farm and part of AgReserves, a management company that operates investment farms and ranches throughout the world. We are seeking reliable and fastidious Milkers join our Dairy Team. Milkers are responsible for the maximized daily harvest of high-quality milk.

Responsibilities
  • Champion the company safety guidelines to keep self and team members safe at work.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and/or behavior to the supervisor or the safety committee team.
  • Follow milking routines to ensure maximum harvest of milk in each cow.
  • Follow daily cleaning schedule of milking equipment and parlor area.
  • Identify Mastitis and properly sort and milk out affected cows.
  • Identify and properly sort lame cows.
  • Bring cows into the milk parlor in proper order, without mixing pens.
  • Keep free stalls clean and dry through adherence of the defined maintenance standards.
  • Report maintenance or equipment issues to supervisor and record issue on the white board.
  • Help other departments when needed and as assigned by supervisor.
  • Be willing to help cover other team member days, when needed.
  • Attend required training and meetings to keep current on updated procedures and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Previous cow handling experience. Must be able to demonstrate the proper way to handle animals.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Strong demonstrated team player with good communication skills. English/Spanish bilingual a plus.
  • Knowledge of animal health and how to identify sick animals.
  • Team-oriented, solid communication skills with a no-excuse can do attitude.
  • Able to work in the external environmental conditions and work standing for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 lbs. and do all the physical activities associated with moving, milking and sorting of animals.
Working Conditions
  • Regular lifting up to ~50 lbs; prolonged standing and walking; frequent bending, crouching, climbing, and kneeling; frequent hand use for tools and animal handling; sufficient vision and hearing to monitor livestock health; regular physical exertion.
  • Primarily outdoor ranch environments; exposure to all weather conditions; uneven terrain; dust, dander, manure; variable noise; frequent interaction with large animals and equipment; variable hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays; PPE required as applicable.
