Overview

No experience with cake decorating? No problem! This position is designed for a creative individual looking to sharpen decorating skills.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and prepare soft serve and Blizzard® cakes (or ready‑to‑decorate cakes may be used), including decorating with icing, gel, drawings, decorating kits, air brush, edible images and lettering.
• Ensure all cake products meet Dairy Queen® standards of quality and excellence.
• Prepare and decorate cake products according to customer specifications and applicable standards and procedures.
• Operate and maintain DQ cake and soft‑serve equipment safely, following all health and safety standards.
• Maintain an adequate inventory of decorated cakes, including backup cakes for holidays, national promotions and peak occasions.
• Keep the Dairy Queen display freezer full and properly stocked with a variety of attractively displayed cakes.
• Conduct sampling and actively sell products.
• Take and fill customer cake orders in a professional and timely manner, remaining pleasant and alert to customer needs.
• Work as a team member to assure constant and consistent quality, service, cleanliness and value to each customer.
• Clean work area, organize and stock needed items, and execute proper rotation of products.
• Keep the cake production area and equipment clean and sanitary throughout the shift using the PRIDE cake area checklist.
• Wash counters, tables, restrooms, trash receptacles, gather trash and remove it from dining/service areas to proper receptacles; sweep, mop, stock and perform other cleaning tasks.
• Occasional outside duties such as parking‑lot pickup, trash removal and other maintenance and cleaning activities.
• Inform the immediate supervisor promptly of all significant problems or unusual matters.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as requested by management staff.
• Operate cake production area in accordance with established PRIDE standards, policies and procedures.
• Assist in ensuring guest satisfaction by upholding standards for quality, value, service and cleanliness.
• Maintain positive relationships with restaurant employees and customers to foster a cooperative and pleasant work climate.
• Communicate all significant issues, both positive and negative, with management staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in varying temperature ranges and handle soft‑serve ice‑cream products continuously.
• Ability to perform under pressure in a high‑volume DQ restaurant, moving and responding quickly for long periods.
• Capacity to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong customer‑service skills, good manners, proper personal hygiene, positive attitude, and punctuality.
• Excellent coordination skills to follow instructions and duplicate drawings and letters from projected images.
• Knowledge and practice of established food‑handling procedures to meet local health regulations.
