Job summary

Chobani is seeking a Process Engineer II in New York to improve the performance, reliability, and efficiency of dairy manufacturing processes. The role focuses on optimizing processing operations, milk yield, and throughput through data analysis and targeted improvement initiatives.

You will collaborate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Automation teams, lead larger improvement efforts, and mentor junior engineers while delivering sustainable process solutions across shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or equivalent engineering field.
• 3–7+ years of process engineering experience in dairy or food manufacturing.
• Ability to guide and support junior engineers while leading improvement efforts.
• Experience in dairy processing including separation, fermentation, filtration, evaporation.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead process optimization initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead process improvement initiatives focused on milk yield, waste reduction, throughput, and process stability.
• Analyze plant performance data and trends to identify optimization opportunities.
• Partner with Operations leadership to investigate deviations, product holds, and losses; support root-cause analyses.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and structure investigations.
• Develop and maintain process standards and operating parameters across shifts.
• Monitor key variables such as protein recovery, solids losses, batch performance, and yield.
• Support troubleshooting of complex process issues impacting product quality or equipment operation.
• Work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Automation teams to sustain improvements.
• Translate operational challenges into structured, measurable initiatives.
• Ensure process improvements are documented, validated, and sustained.
• Provide expert dairy processing knowledge including separation, fermentation, filtration, blending.
