Job summary

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT represents a small progressive dairy operation in Rhode Island seeking an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to lead herd management, milk production, employees, and day-to-day farm operations.

This leadership role balances on-farm management with employee supervision, operational decision-making, and continuous improvement, while overseeing herd health, reproduction, nutrition, and milk quality.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors degree preferred in Animal Science, Dairy Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading a commercial dairy operation, herd, or production team.
• Strong knowledge of herd health, reproduction, nutrition, milk quality, and overall dairy production.
• Proven employee supervision, leadership, training, and team development experience.
• Experience utilizing herd management software, production records, and performance data.

Responsibilities

• Oversee herd health, reproduction, animal welfare, milk quality, and herd performance.
• Identify health concerns, manage breeding and reproductive performance, and maintain records.
• Oversee daily farm operations, staffing, scheduling, training, inventory, and maintenance.
• Monitor KPIs for milk production, quality, labor efficiency, and productivity; drive cost improvements.
