Overview of Responsibilities

The Dairy Manager manages activities and functions of the Dairy Department to achieve and maximize sales and profits.

  • Give direction to clerks in the department while overseeing presentation and sanitation standards of the Dairy Department, on the sales floor and in the backroom cooler.
  • Process/stock products according to Sprouts dairy standards.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department.
  • Control inventory to recommended stock levels using proper ordering techniques to maximize sales and minimize stock loss.
  • Ensure proper rotation of products to maintain freshness; remove out-of-code items.
  • Manage price changes within the department.
  • Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and development discussions; make recommendations on merit increases via the bi-annual performance review process.
  • Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
  • Recruit, hire, and collaborate with the Store Manager on promotion/transfer decisions.
  • Exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
  • Take and document corrective actions when needed, including collaboration with HR, involving coaching, counseling, discipline, suspension, or termination.
  • Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
  • Lead a team to deliver high-quality products, excellent service, and a great customer experience.

Qualifications

To qualify as a Dairy Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market, candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years old with a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience.
  • Have good communication skills; capable of giving and receiving directions in a team environment.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales, and financial goals.
  • Display outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude towards team members and customers.
  • Be able to answer phones and take special orders.
  • Perform general housekeeping and sanitation in the department.
  • Operate knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed, with accurate weighing and labeling skills.
  • Stand for up to 3 hours continuously, with ability to transfer trays up to 5 lbs., and handle items up to 40 lbs. for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance.
  • Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
