Job summary

Byrne Laboratory is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to support quality testing of raw milk and dairy products in Cortland, NY. You will operate and calibrate lab equipment, perform microbiological analyses, and ensure testing aligns with FDA/USDA guidelines.

The role requires adherence to SOPs, documentation in LIMS, and collaboration with production teams to resolve issues while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of GED or High School Diploma is required.
• Associates degree in dairy/food sciences or equivalent highly preferred
• 1-2 years’ experience in similar food industry lab setting highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological testing on raw milk, finished dairy products, and processing equipment to detect harmful bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria while conducting plate counts, pathogen screening, and shelf-life studies to ensure products meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
