Job summary

ABS Global, a Genus Company, seeks an intern for the Dairy Product Development Team in DeForest, WI. You will analyze large dairy genetic datasets to support trait discovery and genomic evaluation, contributing to robotic milking and novel trait development.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an MS or PhD with strong analytical skills and experience with R and Python. This paid internship lasts 12+ weeks, with typical 40-hour weeks and possible after-hours work.

Qualifications

• Must be an MS or PhD student in Animal Science, Plant Science, Quantitative Genetics, Statistics, Data Science or related field.
• Available for at least 12 weeks during the summer.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Use statistical and analytic tools to perform data mining, data pipeline development, and analysis of large dairy genetic and performance datasets.
• Support trait discovery initiatives and genomic trait evaluations, including projects related to robotic milking and emerging dairy technologies.
• Conduct experimental design and investigate new statistical models and analytical methods.
• Generate insights that inform genetic strategies and proprietary genetic program development.
• Contribute to development of products and tools to enhance customer experience and on-farm decision making.
• Uphold Genus core values, mission, and vision.
• Position may require working outside of normal business hours.
• Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
