Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Houston seeks a customer-focused Dairy Department associate to create an outstanding shopping experience and uphold quality standards. You will assist the department manager in achieving sales goals and promote Customer 1st by helping customers with product information and recommendations.

Maintain a safe, clean environment, follow food safety guidelines, handle inventory tasks, and cooperate with associates to deliver friendly service with integrity.

Qualifications

• Retail experience is preferred.
• Second language proficiency is a plus.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Strong communication skills are required.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction) needed.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.
• Know product offerings in the department to respond to questions and suggest items.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of dairy specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products they have ordered.
• Recommend dairy items to meet customer needs.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report needed repairs.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Report safety risks, theft, or fraud.
• Work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environments.
• Manage conflicts in a constructive, nonconfrontational manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
