Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies in Houston, TX is seeking a Customer Service Associate to create an outstanding in-store experience. You will assist customers, answer questions and maintain a safe, clean environment in the department.

You will support the department manager in achieving sales goals, adhere to food safety standards, and promote the company’s Customer 1st strategy with a friendly, helpful attitude.

Qualifications

• Retail experience is preferred.
• Second language skills (speaking, reading and/or writing) preferred.
• Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
• Excellent communication skills with customers and colleagues.
• Knowledge of basic math for transactions and counting.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions with helpful suggestions.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of dairy specials and promotions.
• Provide customers with fresh products ordered or requested.
• Recommend dairy items to meet customer needs.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintain a positive attitude and stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and temperature controls.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and arrange repairs as needed.
• Notify management of accidents or safety risks.
• Report any illegal activity when observed.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.
• Manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Uphold honesty and integrity in handling customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Assist and support customers, including minors and individuals with special needs.
