Job summary

Prairie Meadows in Altoona, IA seeks a Chef De Cuisine for AJ’s Steakhouse to oversee day-to-day kitchen operations and drive culinary excellence. You will manage planning, preparation, and delivery of all food, ensuring quality and consistency across recipes, portions, cooking, and presentation.

You’ll lead the AJ’s Steakhouse staff, collaborate on menu development, and set culinary goals while coordinating closely with front-of-house to elevate the guest experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Bachelor’s or related culinary degree preferred.
• Experience in large full-service, upscale, high-volume restaurant kitchen.
• ServSafe certification required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for food service of AJ’s Steakhouse from planning and preparing to delivery of all food.
• Oversee that kitchen work area is ready for daily operation, ensuring compliance with established standards and requirements.
• Ensure all food is consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking, and presentation standards.
• Assist the Executive Chef in leading the AJ’s Steakhouse staff, developing menus, and creating culinary goals.
• Work with front of house restaurant management to ensure the guest experience exceeds expectations.
