Job summary

ChristianaCare’s Anatomic Pathology team in Newark is seeking a Cytotechnologist to join a collaborative Cytology team. This position is ideal for an experienced Cytotechnologist or a new graduate seeking to build a career within a leading health system while maintaining an exceptional work-life balance.

Responsibilities include examining cytology specimens, performing microscopic evaluation, participating in FNA adequacy assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cytotechnology or a Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline with Cytotechnology certification program completion.
• CT (ASCP) certification preferred.
• One year of Cytology experience.
• Experience with fine needle aspiration adequacy assessment.

Responsibilities

• Examine gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens according to established laboratory protocols
• Perform microscopic evaluation and interpretation of cytologic specimens
• Participate in fine needle aspiration (FNA) adequacy assessment procedures
• Prepare non-gynecologic specimens using smear, cytocentrifugation, and filtration techniques
• Document findings and maintain required workload and regulatory records
• Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents and staining solutions
• Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities
• Communicate effectively with Pathologists, physicians, nurses, and laboratory colleagues
• Assist with training and mentoring students and new team members
• Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, accreditation, and laboratory safety standards
