Job summary

Labcorp in Mobile, AL is hiring a Cytotechnologist to join a high-volume laboratory team. The role involves screening gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens, performing microscopic evaluation, and documenting results in the LIS with strict adherence to CLIA and safety policies.

Qualified candidates will have a Cytology program completion, a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, and ASCP CT certification. Masters in Cytology or additional certifications are preferred for advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Cytology Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Completion of a Cytology program.
• ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens for possible malignant or related abnormal conditions.
• Screening of liquid based cytology, manual and imaged, as well as conventional slides.
• Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following lab procedures and policies.
• Ensure proper documentation of workload recording per CLIA and lab guidelines.
• Maintain integrity in accurate performance and reporting of results.
• Meet slide screening requirements per SOP.
• Finalize testing results into the computer accurately and timely.
• Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed.
• Comply with safety, infection control and HIPAA policies.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Cytology Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology

Completion of a Cytology program

Masters’ degree in Cytology
