Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Chicago’s Hyde Park area seeks an Anatomic Pathology Technologist for the Cytopathology Laboratory. This 100% onsite role supports receipt and preparation of cytology specimens, including FNA and gynecological samples, to produce high-quality results.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in clinical lab science with CLIA high-complexity credentials, excellent data entry skills, and meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, life sciences, or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Must satisfy CLIA 88 personnel qualifications performing high complexity testing.
• Knowledge of automated and conventional laboratory instrumentation.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and LIS.
• Ability to handle large volumes of work with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-focused care through accurate testing across pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic stages.
• Open, label, and verify patient identity; enter requisition data into LIS.
• Process cytology specimens including Fine Needle Aspirations and gynecological monolayers using ThinPrep Pap test technique.
• Prepare specimens for special stains; perform coverslipping and labeling.
• Maintain stains, reagents, instruments, and logs; troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Ensure QA/QC documentation is complete and accurate.
