Job summary

University of Kentucky Healthcare is seeking a Cytology Technical Specialist to serve as a Cytotechnologist/Pathologist extender in the Cytology Laboratory. Duties include performing cytology case accessioning, processing and gross dissection of small core biopsies and to assist in ROSE procedures for FNA / Core Biopsy touch preps independently by using the Mikroscan system.

Staining and cover slipping of cytology specimen slides; maintaining supplies in laboratory; disposal of old specimens;

• Cytology knowledge and laboratory practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform cytology case accessioning and processing; assist in ROSE procedures for FNA / Core Biopsy touch preps using the Mikroscan system.
• Stain and coverslip cytology slides; maintain laboratory supplies; dispose of old specimens.
• Ensure confidentiality of patient and business information per HIPAA and compliance standards.
