Penn Medicine in the United States is seeking a Cytology Lab Technician to support the Pathology Department. This role includes specimen preparation, FNA biopsy assistance, operating Panther molecular testing instruments, and assisting digital pathology workflows.

Qualified applicants have a Bachelor’s degree in a science field and a high school diploma or GED, with preference for laboratory experience. This position requires working 5:30am–2:00pm, Monday–Friday, with weekend/holiday rotation as

Qualifications

High school diploma GED.
Bachelor’s Degree with 24 semester hours of science 6 hours Chemistry, 6 hours Biology and 12hours semester hours of Chemistry, Biology or medical laboratory technology.
One 1-year Laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs routine diagnostic test procedures and supports quality control and documentation.
Performs initial evaluation and handling of incoming specimens: separation, centrifugation and preservation procedures; sorts and organizes specimen batches.
Organizes, labels and numbers specimens and test materials; measures and dispenses specimens and reagents.
Enters test results and related data into the laboratory computer and logbook; communicates results to caregivers.
