Job summary

Penn Medicine in Philadelphia is seeking a Full-Time Anatomic Pathology Technical Assistant II to join the Department of Cytopathology. The role performs accessioning, preparation, and maintenance of pathology specimens for diagnostic testing, and supports day-to-day operations across specimen processing, histology, gross room, and Morgue.

Under supervision, the incumbent reviews patient samples, enters orders in Epic/Penn Chart, manages inventories, ensures proper labeling, and collaborates

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; relevant lab experience preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience as Anatomic Pathology Technical Lab Assistant I.
• Enrollment in cytotechnology/histotechnology program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows established SOP for collection, tracking, and processing of pathology specimens; collaborates with OR staff.
• Accurately reviews patient samples and requisitions; ensures all tests are captured and logged.
• Register and accession cases in LIS/Penn Chart; manages orders and appointments as required.
• Maintains and labels hazardous waste, inventories, and lab equipment.
