Job summary

Unified Women's Healthcare is seeking a Cytology Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the Cytology Lab, coordinate staff for efficient workflow and perform primary/QC screening as needed; oversee the technical operations including QA/QC checks, system maintenance issues, accuracy of test results, and general sample troubleshooting; oversee laboratory staff in the performance of qualitative and quantitative test procedures; act as reference source for technologists in the correlation of

Qualifications

• ASCP certification in Cytology/Cytotechnology is required.
• Maintain annual proficiency testing assessment.
• Minimum 3 years of full-time experience as a cytotechnologist within the preceding 10 years.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• Florida state licensure is not required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a high-volume GYN Cytology Department analyzing ThinPrep specimens with the most updated equipment available (T5000 Autoloaders, Genius Digital Imager, Genius station, etc)
• Perform day-to-day supervision of the cytology laboratory operation and personnel performing testing and reporting test results, includes multiple Cytologists/Cytotechs and Cytoprep techs in the image/screening/interpretation and preparation, respectively, of liquid-based GYN cytology specimens.
• Be accessible to provide consultation to resolve technical problems
• Record the slide interpretation results of each case examined or reviewed
• For each 24-hour period, record the total number of slides he/she examined (screened/ rescreened) or reviewed, as well as ensuring the recording of the total number of slides evaluated by others. Record the number of hours spent examining slides in each 24-hour period
• Perform required compliance tasks including the interpretation of data generated from the LIS to track lab and individual cytologists/cytotech performance
• Prepare for CAP and other inspections.
• Participate in other projects and perform other duties as needed.
