Job summary

Brown University Health seeks an experienced Cytology Laboratory Supervisor to oversee daily operations of the Cytology Lab at Rhode Island Hospital. You will ensure accurate, timely processing and high-quality patient care, while maintaining compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and accreditation standards.

You will supervise staff, coordinate staffing, monitor workflow, and drive quality assurance and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biologic sciences with cytotechnology internship and ASCP cytology eligibility or certification.
• Minimum 5 years of laboratory experience; supervisory experience preferred.
• National certification (or eligible) in cytology by ASCP or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day Cytology Laboratory operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing and evaluation of specimens.
• Perform routine and complex cytologic screening and maintain competency in cytology practices.
• Provide guidance, troubleshooting and resolution of operational and technical issues for laboratory staff.
• Set workflow priorities and monitor operations for optimal turnaround times and resource utilization.
• Monitor workload, productivity, turnaround times and quality metrics; drive process improvements and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA and accreditation standards; develop and maintain QA/QC programs.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development of staff, students, and residents.
• Collaborate with leadership, pathologists, clinicians to support regulatory inspections and continuous improvement.
