Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a Cytology Lab staff member to join our in-person team at the Downtown Minneapolis campus. This 1.0 FTE position (80 hours per pay period) works Monday through Friday, days, in the Cytology Lab.

Under supervision, you will collect and process specimens, enter data into the EHR/LIS, and communicate with patients and teams. Responsibilities include maintaining supplies, quality improvement, accessioning, labeling, processing, and instrument maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• OR an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified or certified-eligible with a nationally accredited phlebotomy association.
• Completion of ten quarter credits of biology or chemistry college courses.
• Six months of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining supplies and inventory.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and lean processes.
• Accession specimens according to standard procedures in the laboratory information system.
• Properly identify, label, process and distribute specimens using standard protocol.
• Respond appropriately to internal and external customer needs and communicate any problems or issues to them.
• Assist with pathology send-outs.
• Assist with instrument maintenance.
