Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a Cytology Lab assistant for a 1.0 FTE position (80 hours per pay period), working Monday through Friday in person. You will collect and process laboratory specimens, enter data into the EHR/LIS, and communicate professionally with patients and the care team.

Responsibilities include maintaining supplies, inventory, accessioning specimens, proper labeling and distribution, and supporting instrument maintenance and pathology send-outs.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills required.
• Strong communication with patients and healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supplies and assist with inventory in Anatomic Pathology.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and lean processes.
• Accession specimens in the LIS according to procedures.
• Identify, label, process and distribute specimens per protocol.
• Address internal and external customer needs and relay issues.
• Assist with pathology send-outs.
• Assist with instrument maintenance.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Equivalent education/experience

Phlebotomy certification or eligible

Biology or chemistry coursework (10 quarter credits)

6 months clinical lab experience
