Responsibilities

• Performs clinical assays in the Cytogenetics Lab and prepares specimens and controls.
• Ensures specimens are correctly labeled and logged in the Sunquest system.
• Maintains cell cultures for chromosome analysis and prepares slides.
• Performs karyotyping, banding procedures and FISH; handles computer imaging.
• Performs quality control surveillance and documents results.
• Maintains records and lab charges; orders supplies and equipment.
• Applies scientific method; evaluates new methods and ensures adherence to policies.
• Performs required instrument maintenance and troubleshooting; handles shipping for samples.
