Position: Cytogenetic Technologist

Work Details

Hours: Full-time, Day Shift, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, with one Saturday every 5-6 weeks

Location: Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, Saint Petersburg, FL - Esoteric Lab

Position Summary

• The laboratory cytogenetic technologist performs all aspects of human chromosome analysis across various tissue types, utilizing established procedures in the Cytogenetics section of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
• Provides recommendations to leadership for process improvements.
• Demonstrates high attention to detail, ensuring dependable and consistent work output.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor of Science degree with at least 30 hours in science
• Board-approved training in Cytogenetics at the Technologist level OR 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in Cytogenetics

Experience

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Proficiency with computers, automated instruments, and mechanical apparatus
• Experience with FISH, including FFPE, and chromosome analysis of oncology samples is preferred

Certification / Licensing

• American Society of Clinical Pathology, Cytogenetics CG (ASCP) certification AND State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist License in Cytogenetics
• Applicants requiring sponsorship now or in the future will not be considered

Salary Range

Minimum $27.44/hour - Maximum $43.91/hour. Salary will be commensurate with experience and role scope. Discussions about salary will occur during candidate screening.
