RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Cytogenetics Technician to join the Lab NB Cytogenetics team. The role focuses on performing chromosomal analyses, including G-banding, FISH, and complex chromosome studies, with emphasis on oncology and hematology samples.

The position offers a per diem day shift, with on-site work in New Jersey and a commitment to quality and safety in a fast-paced diagnostic laboratory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cytogenetic Technology, Biology, or a related field required.
• 0-2 years of experience preferred; training available for right candidate.
• Normal color vision required for color-based analysis.
• Competence in routine cytogenetic processing, metaphase harvesting, G-banding, and automated karyotyping.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cytogenetic procedures including tissue culture, slide making, G-banding, and automated karyotyping across blood, bone marrow, and tissue specimens.
• Analyze oncology and hematology specimens as the primary diagnostic focus.
• Execute advanced cytogenetic methods such as complex chromosome analysis, cell separation, and FISH testing.
• Maintain quality control by documenting reagents, validating probes, and evaluating results.
