Job summary

LabCorp in RTP, NC seeks a Cytogenetics Technologist Trainee to perform routine prenatal testing, culture handling, karyotyping and FISH-related tasks, ensuring accuracy and quality. The role requires a degree in a chemical/biological science and may involve overtime shifts.

The position offers full training for new grads and a structured lab environment with opportunities for growth in cytogenetics and diagnostic services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• ASCP or AMT certification
• Able to pass a standardized color vision screen
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts

Responsibilities

• Perform routine procedures for Prenatal samples, including culture, harvest, slide making and karyotyping
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE
