Montefiore Medical Center in New York City seeks a Cytogenetics Lab Technologist to perform cytogenetics analysis on body fluids and tissues, maintain equipment, and support lab operations at the Moses campus. Responsibilities include reporting, specimen dispatch, and data management.

Required NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or permit, at least one year of cytogenetics training and experience, and a BA/BS in medical technology or life sciences; NCA certification or Master’s degree

Formación

• New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or a limited permit required.
• Minimum of one year of training in clinical cytogenetics.
• At least one year of experience in clinical and cancer cytogenetic techniques.
• BA/BS in medical technology or life sciences; NCA certification and/or Master's desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Enter demographics for Molecular genetics and mail Cytogenetics reports.
• Dispatch biohazardous patient specimens to appropriate laboratories.
• Provide clients and health providers with information on test services and transportation.
• Prepare extensive laboratory purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
• Answer telephone calls and incoming faxes.
• Screen visitors/couriers/vendors from Laboratory Accession area.
• Receive and distribute mail; handle routine correspondence.
• Maintain lab data and statistics including accessioning of samples.
• Maintain chemical and equipment inventory; dispose of chemical waste.
• Culture setup and maintenance, slide prep, staining and screening of body fluids.
• Prepare solutions required in Clin Cytogenetics; perform banding techniques.
• Screening and analysis of chromosomes and FISH; conduct FISH on liquids and tissues.
