Job summary

D&J Precision Machine in Cambridge, Ohio, is seeking a Cylinder Head Technician to inspect, machine, and recondition diesel engine cylinder heads onsite. You will perform resurfacing, valve seat work, and head rebuilding to restore performance to factory specs.

The role requires accuracy and a strong understanding of machining processes, with hands-on use of precision tools and diagnostic equipment. This is a full-time, onsite position offering competitive pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical automotive or diesel cert preferred.
• Proven experience as Cylinder Head Technician or in remanufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engine specifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and evaluate cylinder heads for damage, cracks, and wear using precision tools.
• Resurface and valve seat cutting to restore factory specifications.
• Rebuild cylinder heads with new components and verify with pressure testing.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and collaborate with production teams to meet deadlines.
• Perform routine diagnostic checks and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Cylinder Team Lead, the Cylinder Head Technician will be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, machining, and reconditioning cylinder heads for diesel engines. This position requires a strong understanding of engine components, and the ability to assess the condition of cylinder heads to ensure they meet strict performance and quality standards. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and committed to ensuring that every cylinder head is restored to optimal performance. This role is based at our Cambridge, Ohio location and is a fully onsite position. This is position is paid at a rate of $22.00 an hour.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and evaluate returned cylinder heads for damage, cracks, and wear using diagnostic tools, visual inspection, and precision measuring instruments
• Perform machining operations such as resurfacing, valve seat cutting, valve guide replacement, and porting to restore cylinder heads to factory specifications
• Conduct pressure testing and crack detection procedures to ensure cylinder heads are free of defects and suitable for remanufacturing
• Rebuild cylinder heads by installing new components such as valves, valve seals, guides, and springs
• Stay updated on industry best practices, tools, and techniques related to cylinder head repair and remanufacturing
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure efficient workflow and meet production deadlines
• Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Requirements

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in automotive or diesel mechanics or a related field preferred
• Proven experience as a Cylinder Head Technician or similar role in an automotive or diesel engine repair/remanufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of cylinder head design, function, and machining processes
• Proficient in using precision tools, such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges, as well as diagnostic equipment for pressure testing and crack detection
• Experience with machining equipment, including surface grinders, valve grinders, and seat cutters
• Previous experience in a remanufacturing facility or high-performance engine shop
• Experience with diesel engine cylinder heads
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engine specifications
• Must be legally authorized to work in the USA
